This weekend we moved more furniture into our office house. It’s getting closer and closer to being a “real office.”
Of course, what will really make it a real office is for people to do work there. Lee really needs to take some of the burden of the accounting and clerical parts of the job, so that he can concentrate on what brings in money: his networking and scouring the earth for deals. We think we’ve found someone who really wants to do the work, and are excited about that. While we love our small town, we’ve found that the level of commitment to work can be less than what we need. But we are pretty happy with our current prospects, so stay tuned!
As for the office, we now have a rug in the room where the floors need refinishing (60% off, score!), a hutch in the conference room (you know, to hold all our trophies or something), and desks in the main office area. There is even a chair. More photos are at the bottom of this article.
Now to get the curtains replaced, get a sign (Lee is working on that), and get to work.
Other New Stuff
I mentioned in a earlier post that I was working on some new Facebook ads. The ad I placed on our Hermit Haus Redevelopment page, which pictures a smiling photo of our colleague, Carol, has already gotten us 22 new page likes, even though the ad itself just invites viewers to call us. The one on the Hermits Buy Houses Facebook page, which has only been there two days, has netted ten new likes. I’m only spending $5 a day, which means we are only spending less than 50 cents per like (previous ads have cost more than a dollar per like). We’re going to run this ad for a week, then switch is out with one that has both Carol and Russell on it, to see if there is a different result.
One thing I did NOT do was over-think the ad. Our mentor says that it works better just to do the thing, then change it if it doesn’t work. So, this is not professionally done or even necessarily what I should do. But I did it, rather than obsessing over perfection.
So, there’s your insight into our business strategies. Maybe they will help you just get out there and get advertising (we also do other types of ads, but that’s another story).
Before I sign off, here are the other pictures of our “new” office furniture.
