Faithful readers will recall that Lee and Sue Ann bought four houses in Cameron, Texas and made one into our branch office up there. We shared some photos of the inside recently.
We also have some fine improvements to the outside now! Our talented assistant, Mandi, just happens to know some folks who make signs, so we commissioned them to put up a sign in front of our office. As you can see, it says in giant letters, “Sue Ann buys houses.” That’s so, when someone calls and asks for me, Carol will know that’s from the Cameron sign. I do feel rather awkward about it, but I’ll survive. Marketing, you know. We just feel so real now that there is a sign on the property! They did a great job installing it.
We tried to make the entry a bit more welcoming (since we already got a negative comment about our ugly screen door). Plans are afoot for plants and a welcome sign, but we hope that our “open for business” pig and welcome mat help.
Plus, we got quite a deal on some used office furniture. Our waiting room has real chairs, and we put a little table with the folding chairs we already in the office kitchen, so it’s like a break room now.
Next on the office horizon is that Larry’s company (Andress & 3 and the Andress RV Park: Home is where you park it!) offices are going to move into the second floor of the office house, since there will be someone working with him now. I guess we are all making lots of progress with our businesses and needing the space for all our helpers. I’m personally glad the RV Park is next door, because he’s going to have a farmers’ market there, and it’s convenient. I think this town can handle two farmers’ markets!
This move gives us the sunroom where Larry’s offices are now to also use as another office or meeting area. Plus, Larry’s company will have their own restroom facilities. It’s really a nice space, especially if you like dark paneling and genuine 70s green carpet (which is actually in pretty good shape for its age, and may end up staying, as an homage to the former owners!
Stay tuned! We also start renovating one of the houses next door to the office very soon! We have quite a collection of “before” pictures.
