Did you know the movers come on May 23 to deliver what used to be in the Braesgate house to the Bobcat Lair? After that, Anita’s stuff will be delivered, and the furnishings in our temporary Villa Park casita. Is the Lair ready for occupancy?
Of course not. Once again it sat for a week with no progress on the extensive punch list (and that bathtub still looks dumb, and there’s still no glass in the shower, as you can see).
I went over there every day last week, since we’d been told the shelving would be built last weekend and that a full crew would be there on Wednesday. No one was there then, but Anita and I did figure out that the faucet in the kitchen is one of those cool ones that turn on and off by just touching them. We did that over and over. It cheered us up.
Finally, on Thursday, in the middle of a hail storm, Anita and I found work happening. Hooray! Two guys (and at least it was two of our favorite guys) were in there slowly making progress. The living/dining area was totally debris free and had been cleaned a bit. We can at least see the potential there! Still the mantel and shelves on either side of the fireplace need to be installed. But, it’s livable.
Our friend Andy was busy cleaning the kitchen, including the little greenhouse window. And someone had kindly put a toilet paper dispenser and towel holder in the half bath. Hooray.
The master bedroom is looking good, too, though it still needs its crown molding with lights. The rest of the house looked the same, only with less debris. So, what’s next?
We have ordered and paid for the new windows. They will be installed the week all the stuff gets moved in. At least that’s something that is outside, for the most part. Then all the trim around the windows and doors can go up.
I believe we have paid for the material to make the built-in bookshelves and mantel. That’s nice.
We have been told that the garage is getting cleaned out. That is also nice, since a lot of boxes need to go in there, and maybe my car.
I have to stay in Cameron all next week, so Anita is in charge of visiting and reminding them that movers are coming! I hate not being able to check up on stuff, but the dogs do need to be fed, and their master is going to be off learning about real estate money.
