So as you heard from Sue Ann, we have had all kinds of adventures in repairs the last few weeks. The first thing was the electricity getting damaged by the storm, and now that is fixed! Then the air conditioning woes of the Andress offices upstairs, and finally the water line being damaged in the repairs of the electricity. The plumber came out this morning and was able to squeeze us in for this afternoon to run a new water line for us. He said it would not be that much more expensive to replace the line than to repair and patch for now. So rather than pay for it twice, he is doing some exploratory digging and will be replacing the line this afternoon!
We will be able to water our faithful and loving green friends, I will be able to finish cleaning like I started last week, and we will have a working bathroom again! Yay! I did manage to finish the cleaning to the bathroom last week, so at least it will be nice and clean when we arm wrestle to see who “goes” first. Maybe not arm wrestle. There is another bathroom upstairs and the faithful rusty vent in the shower (Yes, I wrote “in the shower”) will have the bathroom nice and chilly.
The great thing about things all seeming to go out at one time teaches us a few things. The first of which is this is the cost of growing. We have grown to the point of needing use of the whole office, save one room that I would bet won’t be empty for long. That is wonderful! What a way to hold up to our core values in growth for our little town that we call home. We will also know when things have been replaced and doing it all now will get it out of the way now instead of one thing a month happening. This gives us the chance to get it all done right now and move forward.
We are taxing the original resources that we had to start with because of growth, and because of that growth we are also able to make the repairs needed. Of course it would be fantastic for the office to not need the repairs, but this gives us all the chance to grow and to learn. We are also given the chance to build relationships with other businesses in town and support those businesses by having work for them to do. Even though we are responsible for some of the repairs, we have this great opportunity to give back in this way.
As of the time that this blog will be published, I would say that we will have water again, our electricity is fixed and the Andress offices are even closer to being cooled off so that Larry and Val can continue their growth as well. The plumbing company is at work right now with their machinery getting us on the way to flushing toilets. Stay tuned! We have so much to say and so many more adventures to be had!
But Wait, There’s More!
(This part is by Sue Ann, as relayed by Mandi, since Mandi can’t type it now.)
Yay, we have water; yay, we have electricity; boo, now there’s no Internet. Guess what? When Carl the plumbing guy was pulling away, he took the Internet cable with him! It ended up out in the street. He said he had been soooo careful of it all day while putting in the water line, but then when he pulled out, he was just thinking about leaving! Sigh. Haven’t we all done something like that?
Well, the cable people have been called in, so there will be Internet tomorrow at the latest, and we’ll get reimbursed if there’s any expense. But really, we have no choice but to laugh at this. If it’s not one vitally important utility, it’s another!
