She loves her wee pup named Pickle. Here we are on to the next Hermit! This is Anita McCabe, everybody!
What is your official job title?
My official job title is Project Manager.
What was your dream career growing up?
I had several dream careers growing up, none of which had anything to do with construction/housing, because my dad was a contractor and was always telling me to “get away from there,” meaning any tool/equipment/work area that he thought might hurt me (and my unwavering curiosity about what he was doing at any one time was probably going to get me hurt). Luckily for all of us, I was terrified of his blowtorches. Anyway, my first dream career was foreign correspondent. I was a teen during the Vietnam War/protests and Watergate and was obsessed with writing and chasing down a story, and I wanted to travel the world. The second one was filmmaker/film professor; I got the degree, but circumstances led me to editing, writing, and project/group managing medical books and journals, which I did (and still do) for over 35 years.
What has been your best moment so far as a Hermit?
My best moment as a Hermit: I love the fact that I work with such ethical people who care about doing the job right and helping others. That was not my experience in general in corporate life.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love watching and reading about movies; I love to travel (you and I will be together one day soon, Barcelona); I love the theater (just got back from Baltimore, where I saw a wonderful production of “I Hate Hamlet”); I love hanging out with my friends; I enjoy hiking, especially in New Mexico and Arizona; and I love to snuggle up with my dog, Pickle. She is a love bug.
What would be your ideal TV show if you could create one?
My ideal TV show, if I could create one, would be a cross between Dark Shadows, Twin Peaks, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Ancient Aliens, and Fixer Upper. Let’s see Hollywood try to green light that!
Mandi: Barcelona… What a way to win me over. Hmmm… What was I saying? Oh well. Now you all know Anita a little bit better! What’s up next in our blogging lives? Well, you will just have to stay tuned!
