While we are running around looking for deals, analyzing potential profit, making business plans for new construction, and much more, we are also enjoying watching the Ash House project come back from its sad life. The rehab process is actually a lot of fun.
Probably the most amazing thing has been to see the yard once all the bamboo was cleared out. An entire dog run was discovered! Also, you can see the house behind it now. People live there! There’s still a lot of landscape work to do, but at least you can see what a nice, big yard the house has. And you can see the house itself from the street. The workers really outdid themselves on clearing so much brush away, and we are pretty darned sure the neighbors are thrilled.
What about inside? The floors really look beautiful. They are a quality vinyl plank that very closely resembles wood. The floors tie in well with the accent walls and the beams in the family room, and coordinate well with the light gray walls. We think maybe this gray is too light for future houses, but this one needs to look very bright on the inside. The sparkling white kitchen cabinets and insides to all the closets really makes everything appear larger. Someone is going to LOVE the spacious laundry room with all its storage!
We still don’t have the replacement windows, though, and they’ll lighten up the place a lot. This week, perhaps, they will show up!
Another bright spot is the bathrooms. Ah, filth has been replaced with clean and pretty. The bathtub is a custom job, because it’s longer than usual. A tall buyer will appreciate that, of course!
We chose some upgraded light fixtures to capture the mid-century modern vibe of the house, even though it’s not the “standard” that our partner usually uses. It will help the mood of the place, though.
Just a few more weeks and this one’s ready to go!
