What’s going to happen behind these doors? Stay tuned!
We are happy to share the news that our Ash House project is officially closed. It was a longer process than we anticipated, but we are really happy with the outcome. Sure, we had to wait an extra couple of weeks because of issues with the title company, but we are used to being patient with delays. It’s DONE now!
We are very proud of how our renovation came out. It made the house livable now, but gives the new owners plenty of options for future changes. We even made a bit of profit for ourselves and our partners at Andress & 3, LLC!
What’s in the future for the Ash House? Lee had a nice talk with the buyers at the closing and was really happy to learn how much they love the house and what they plan to do in the future.
We’d hoped that whoever bought the house would make use of the size of the lot. There is a large space back there (now that the bamboo got mowed down), which we envisioned as containing a deck, a pool, a workshop…well, the new buyers had an even more interesting plan! They are going to add on to the garage area and create living quarters for their parents. What a fantastic idea!
We know that the buyers are fans of our Facebook page and read our blogs, so we really hope that they keep us updated on what they do with the property. I know I (Sue Ann) would have so much fun fixing up the gardens, making the back yard an oasis, and tweaking the interior. We would all love to see how the house progresses with a new family to take care of it.
This is only the second family to live in this house, which is pretty amazing since it was built in the early 1960s. It was a privilege to take the Ash House from its original 60s features and functioning to a fresh, modern look for the second family to love it.

I spoke with the new owners at closing. They have really impressive plans for the house, and their focus on family really inspires me. They said they plan to expand the detached garage and turn it into to mother-in-law suites—one for each of their mothers. All of us here at Hermit Haus wish them much happiness and salute their dedication to family.
I loved watching this house go from a jungle house to be restored to all its glory. They do such great work!!
