Meanwhile, renovations never cease! We are really happy with the progress of the Travis 2 house in Cameron. Everything is moving right along and it’s hard to recognize the place.
The walls are all painted, the floors are in, and the bathroom is functional, minus the sink. No more holes in the floor! The guys built a cute little “room” to hold the water heater, and you can see from the picture that it’s all shiny and perfect in there.
The screened-in porch is also complete, with the floors painted brown, and a new door installed. Take that, flies! the porch had been so sad before, but now it’s just asking for a couple of chairs and some plants!
The kitchen is undergoing its own transformation. Guys were installing new cabinets last time I was in, and we discussed where to put additional ones. That may end up being a nice place to cook, after all. Closing off the extra door really has helped.
Ricky set off to purchase ceiling fans and light fixtures, which will help a lot. He’s going to build a vanity for the kitchen, since it needs an odd size. The counter tops haven’t been decided on yet, either. Otherwise, it’s one good-looking house. They even washed the windows.
This place would be great for a business, like a professional office. We talked to our friend at the Chamber of Commerce about it, so maybe she will have some ideas. The large, fenced-in back yard means that it would also be fine for a family, though. We will have to see what comes up. The good thing about being in a small town is you hear about lots of interesting opportunities.
Update: After this was originally written, we discovered that the “helpful” previous tenant, who power washed the roof, power washed holes in it. Great. There go the additional kitchen cabinets and tile backsplash! But you have to roll with the punches!
