The Bobcat Lair is getting ready to host its occupants. The end REALLY is in sight. All we need is a Certificate of Occupancy and we can go in!
Because of time constraints, we had to move all our furniture into the house last week. It was a real adventure, as a very large moving truck tried to come down the very small road leading to the house. We had told the company not to send big trucks. They interpreted it as “don’t send the biggest truck you have.” So, the poor moving dudes had to back the behemoth out of the neighborhood and load all the things (including MANY boxes) into a smaller truck. Luckily, they were very polite and good natured about it.
While Anita and Sue Ann try to unpack as much as possible, work continues. The disputed new windows are now in. While they lack built-in blinds, they are really a lot better energy-wise. You can already tell the air conditioning system isn’t working as hard.
The crew has been installing really lovely trim around all the windows, which will really make the house look high end. They should be finished with that any day now, though the process was slowed down when they discovered some of the siding on the house was rotted, thanks to the former leaky windows that had ruined the original parquet floors. The new cedar does smell good!
The last major item was the granite top for the custom partners’ desk that Ruben built in the office. Sue Ann won kudos from Lee and Ruben by not picking the most expensive slab in the warehouse, for once. She actually chose the LEAST expensive one. It was actually perfect for the task, too.
Anita reported that the delivery of the desk involved a lot of grunting and even a bit of “almost girlie screaming,” but it seems to have happened successfully. The office will really be a great place to work!
Small finishing details are all that’s left, and even they are happening. There are house numbers, for example! And the washer and dryer are hooked up, so no more contorted access to the machines as they were installed in Villa Park is needed. Just the little things…
We’ll let you know when the OFFICIAL move-in date is. Meanwhile, there are other houses to fix up, buy, and sell! Enjoy the rest of the photos.
