Companies need values, and they need to think about them often. Because of that, Lee and I came up with guiding principles for our Hermits’ Rest Enterprises company, which closely echo the principles for Hermit Haus Redevelopment.
Our words ring true. Here’s what that typewriter is saying:
- Always do the right thing.
- Have a passion for what you do.
- Live your commitment.
- Never stop improving.
- Deliver a WOW experience.
- Be accountable.
- Be humble.
- Keep an open mind.
- Have fun every day.
Since we’ve really been applying our company values as we work with people, I’ve found myself changing, and for the better. By being open to different kinds of deals and working with different kinds of people, I’ve found that the world is a better place than maybe I once thought. There are good people out there I never would have encountered otherwise, since we differ in politics, religion, socioeconomic status, and culture.
By committing to acting ethically but still figuring out ways to earn a living in this business, we are all keeping our minds active. Realizing we will never know everything we need to know about this business keeps us humble, for sure.
And I have fun working with my colleagues, from our directors to our project managers, to the office manager, to the contractors. It’s always a great day to be a Hermit.
We hope that those of you who are also real estate investors, rehabbers, flippers, or wholesalers also are able to live up to your company principles and are learning and growing!
