I’ve come to ask for your help. I only do one fundraising activity per year, and it’s the Austin Heart and Stroke Walk. I’m in my seventh year of doing it with friends I work with in my day job at Planview, Inc., along with my son, Kynan. I’m here today to ask you to please help me out by contributing to my personal walk goal. I’d like to reach a thousand dollars, and I’m halfway there.
Why?
This beautiful video by Mandi explains why I’m doing this much better than I could. Thank you, my friend!
I think we’ve all known someone who has heart disease or has experienced a stroke. Many more are living happy lives, thanks to progress in medical care, but many others don’t make it. I wish I’d had a chance to meet my mother-in-law, Kay Bruns, but never did, because of heart disease. Just last week, one of my favorite musicians, Tom Petty, lost his life to heart disease. And Anita recently lost one of her best friends suddenly—no one even knew he had heart disease. This year, Anita is joining us on the walk, in honor of Anthony. Sigh, I even lost my DOG to heart disease this year! I miss Rosie so much.
We can help by donating to this heart walk, or your local event. To support me, visit my Heart Walk page, and mention Hermit Haus in the recipient field. I will match any donations received through this blog post! I already gave an extra $150 in honor of our 1500 Facebook fans!
Giving Back
It’s important to give back to your community and the world in general. This is one small way I can help. Lee helps by donating a percentage of our profits each year to Habitat for Humanity. What can you do?
Hermann says please like and share!
This is a great cause. As Suna mentioned, I’ve already lost my mom, my sister, and two brothers to heart disease. As with Anita’s friend, in about 30% of people suffering from heart disease, the first symptom is death. Suna mentioned that she has already pledged $150 in honor of the number of people (1500) who follow us on Facebook. I will give an additional $1 for every new Facebook follower we get between Wednesday and Saturday of this week. Let’s see if we can cross the 2000 mark.
Thank you, Lee. That is generous and touching.
