More updates on The Rattlesnake House! I am just really proud and happy with the roof by Mastersson Roofing and Spray foam! It just looks so wonderful! The next plan is to paint all of the brown stuff like the rest of the trim and the shutters red to match.
I already have “favorites” on and about the property. This is my favorite tree on the property, at my favorite time of day. My horse, Ricci, is buried under this tree. I call it “Ricci’s Tree,” and it sits almost perfectly in the corner of the property, right next to the road.
The property is triangular in shape, as you can see on the left, and this tree is at the corner furthest from the house.
Plus, from the balcony in my bedroom, I will have an incredible view of this tree. I have been visiting this house for almost a year, and this tree has never been less than this beautiful deep green color and so full. I love it!
(Note from Sue Ann: There’s also a huge tree behing the house, near where the barn used to be. It will be a great site for gatherings.)
What Else I Love
Now below, I will get to show you what will be my favorite room in the house! My kitchen! The bathroom will be a close second, but when you see the rendering of the kitchen, you will understand!
Saturday afternoon was a really fun and exciting time! Sue Ann and I went and picked out the kitchen cabinets at Lowe’s in Temple! We also looked at flooring and lighting, but that’s for a future post. So much to look at!
The printed renderings in the left column are not completely true to color and just a little bit darker than it will actually be. The designer did a great job, right? The cabinet color is called Toasted Almond, and has a glazed surface, by the way. And we already have granite, just waiting to go in. It’s a golden color that will go well with the warm cabinets.
The island will also be one that seats four, and is multilevel, not the plain one you see here. The part facing into the kitchen will be lower, and the part that will face out, will be higher, so we can have barstools under it.
The orientation of the islant will be a little bit different in the actual kitchen. It will sit in between the kitchen and dining room, and will actually be vertical to the hallway rather than horizontal as in this rendering. This will give the illusion of separation between the dining room and kitchen. It will also make for a great coffee and breakfast bar. Also for holidays, when people want to hang out with me while I cook, they will have plenty of room without being right on top of each other. I have a thing about “My kitchen, stay out!” when I am cooking. This kitchen is designed with a lot of open space though, so I may not have to have that thing about my kitchen anymore.
The refrigerator will be surrounded by this custom pantry system, and all of this is nestled beside the stairs in that huge, empty space.
Ladies and Gentlemen! This is my dream kitchen! This is my forever kitchen! Sue Ann and I are so excited to share this with all of you. Don’t get me wrong, Lee is excited too. He just understands that is will be our house, meaning me and Sue Ann. And Anita. The 3 Golden Girls.
Stay tuned! The real fun is just beginning!
