We told you things would be going along more quickly at the Rattlesnake house, and they are. It’s been a bit of a case of two steps forward and one step back, with new things that need to be re-done or repaired popping up a lot. There were a couple of days when Mandi was getting a bit overwhelmed, when Chris kept saying, “I have another question about something” with alarming frequency. But, we now have a plan, know what needs to be done, and are moving forward.
We need a bit of plumbing and electrical repair (oh how surprised I am not), so Mandi looked for additional contractors. She didn’t find anyone available, so she arranged with Chris that he and his team will do it. That way he’ll know it’s to his standards, at least!
A few things that we are happy about have happened:
- Clean-up! The house is now a much cleaner workspace (as seen in the top photo), and Ryan is scheduled to come in and do some more cleaning this week. He then will start building the fence for Mandi’s dogs, so he still has stuff to do.
- Ceilings! That’s the big thrill. While a lot of ground-level things got delayed, nothing but a bit of insulation scraping prevented Chris and Gary from putting the drywall on the ceilings! Adding the lighting really makes it look like a house again.
- Lights and Outlets! Chris added a lot of helpful lighting items, like a light in the hallway (why did the previous dude not do that?), a light switch in the laundry room, and such.
- Cabinetry Plans! The cabinet guy from Lowe’s came by, and he and Chris worked out where everything actually is going to go. It will entail once again moving the window above the kitchen sink. That will be the third location for that poor window, which once was at Bobcat, too. It needed to be worked on, anyway, since the previous installation lacked a header. Live and learn!
No doubt we’ll have lots more to share over the next few days, so stay tuned! The rest of the windows are going in, so that the walls can happen, and that will make the house much lighter.
And let us know if we can help you!Hermann says please like and share!
