Yesterday, Mandi and I checked out what Chris and his crew did last week at the Rattlesnake house. Now the changes they make are very easy to see.
For example, you can’t miss the walls now! Most of the ground floor now has drywall, some of which is even floated and taped. It sure makes it look like a house! A lot of the drywall is the stuff that costs more and protects against moisture. So, you will see that in the kitchen and bathrooms, especially.
The walls look quite festive, because some of that drywall is green, while some is blue. One place we buy from stocks the green, while the other stocks the blue, which is apparently the “good stuff.” We like that idea.
For more on the inside of the house, scroll to the bottom of this post and watch today’s video. It has good lighting and such, but was a pain to upload.
We are happy to report that (cross your fingers) we have someone who will mow the grass here (and at the other houses), with a signed contract, insurance, and all those things we ask for in our contractors. We got tired of just hiring “guys” or “the man who comes around,” since they always disappear or have some reason they can’t do it. Don’t say you will mow someone’s lawn and then forget to mention that you actually don’t have a lawn mower or weedeater. Geez. It’s your job to have one, and if this makes me unpopular with people who think the world owes them a living, well, I’m just a nasty ole business woman, I guess.
Anyway, the new folks will also take away the bags of old insulation, the old windows, and other detritus, which will also just happen to make the place easier to mow. They seem to think they can deal with the Georgia cane, too. More power to them! I’d just like to see the road from the house.
We plan to see how this company works out, and if it’s good, we may be able to bring them on to repair the outside of the house, where soffits are falling off and the balcony is not actually attached to anything.
Then, um, maybe the house will be done?
