Hi everyone! This post is a collaboration between me and Mandi. That let us hang out a bit before I go to scenic Irving, Texas to hang out with people from my previous career.
Anyway, Chris and Garry were busy this week and got all the light fixtures installed, and they are getting ready for the air conditioner installation. We are really happy to see the lights, because they make it look more like a real house! They make the empty white box look a lot more like a country home! Their rustic qualities will look great with the kitchen cabinets that Mandi and her dad are going to put in.
But whoops, we realize that one of the fixtures we bought is not there. The lovely dining room fixture! The big fan is where it should go. Mandi says Chris was wondering why there was one open fan box. That’s because one fixture didn’t get installed. It’s in the warehouse at the office, along with part of the master bathroom vanity. Those need to get moved.
Uh, back to the rustic stuff. Even the inexpensive doors we put in look nice with all the dark accents. (By the way, Mandi WILL replace the doors once those darn kids are older and less destructive.)
Floors?
You may notice no photos of the new floors. That’s becaue there aren’t any. Chris had every intention of doing the tile floors in the bathroom, but then he found out that the hole for the shower in the upstairs bathroom was not where the shower hole was. Sigh. They might have looked at it before now. Oh well.
They did begin the tile, but when they noticed we’d brought them white grout, Chris said he’s really like another color that wouldn’t show dirt so much. That does make sense, but the correct grout won’t be here for another week. That’s one reason why Chris won’t be here next week. This red stuff is great to have in the bathrooms. It dries to make a plastic sort of sheild under the porcelain tiles. If there should happen to be a leak somewhere in there, it will not reach the wood on the floors!
I still have no clue what Mandi and Chris will do for the other floors, but I suspect it is sheet vinyl of some kind, to be replaced later with something nice. Or we have an idea involving self-leveling concrete. The budget is so tight!
And that problematic air conditioner sleeve?
Remember that thing Mandi was having all the trouble getting the dimensions for? It’s still not here. That’s the other reason why Chris and team will not be in Cameron next week, sigh.
But the light fixtures look good. That’s progress.
- This big fan will help spread that air conditioning around. But this is where the dining room fixture is supposed to be. Oops.
- Nipple lights in the hallway, plus how nice the beams contrast with the walls.
- The stairway light looks really good.
- Each bedroom gets a white fan. They blend in with the ceiling, but also do their job.
- So, not a great photo, but it shows there will be a vanity light in the master bath!
- Laundry room is so bright you will be able to see stains!
Hermann says please like and share!
I really like closed and down-opening light fixtures in rural houses. They do a better job of keeping the dead bugs out of the fixtures.
Moving right along….
