Once again, I’ve come to ask for your help. I only do one fundraising activity per year, and it’s the Austin Heart and Stroke Walk. I’m in my eighth year of doing it with friends I work with in my day job at Planview, Inc., along with Anita and my son, Kynan (this year, our dog, Vlassic will walk with us). I’m here today to ask you to please help me out by contributing to my personal walk goal. I’d like to reach a thousand dollars, and I’m not quite halfway there.
You could also join us. It’s fun. Click the link in the first paragraph, and click Find a Team, and searchfor the the Planview Plodders!
Why?
This beautiful video by Mandi from last year explains why I’m doing this much better than I could. Thank you, my friend! Even though she talks about things from last year, it’s all still true today.
I think we’ve all known someone who has heart disease or has experienced a stroke. I wish I’d had a chance to meet my mother-in-law, Kay Bruns, but never did, because of heart disease. Just yesterday, I met a woman who’s having to go back to work, because her husband has had a stroke and can’t bring in income. In the last month, at least two Facebook friends have lost rather young relatives to heart attacks. It can happen at any time.
Luckily, many people are living happy lives, thanks to progress in medical care that has been supported by research funded by these heart walks.
We can help by donating to this heart walk, or your local event. To support me, visit my Heart Walk page, and mention Hermit Haus in the recipient field. Or visit my Facebook Fundraiser page and comment with Hermit Haus in the comments. I will match any donations received through this blog post! Lee has already given $100, and I’m just waiting to match YOUR gift!
Giving Back
It’s important to give back to your community and the world in general. This is one small way I can help. Lee helps by donating a percentage of our profits each year to Habitat for Humanity. What can you do?
