Since we are probably going to fix up the upper floor on the Hermit Haus first, we’ve been working to make the lower level less ugly and more like an actual office.
We did a lot last week for that baby shower, but we’re still working on little touches. We think we have the “waiting area” (or the napping area) looking quite welcoming. We’ve also created a “Victorian Corner” where some of the things we will probably use when we renovate across the street are showcased. Thanks to my sister for the cool chair, and to Kim for the snazzy lamp. We’ll be doing more as time goes on.
We will also want the outside homey, of course, and in that vein, we picked out colors for the exterior! We even got little paint pots to test them out. The lightest color will be all the trim, the medium gray is the top half of the building and the dark gray is the bottom of the building. All doors will be RED. That’s Hermann the Hermit’s favorite color, you know.
This weekend David’s been working on the electrical setup. We know the whole place will be rewired eventually, but we figured it would be good to eliminate any dangerous wiring ahead of time. He somehow has managed to work out how all the old and newer wiring is organized, so now it’s safe to install different lighting than those unattractive fluorescent lights. We got some inexpensive ceiling lights that will go in and make the basement happier without breaking the bank.
We’ll show you that when it’s all done!
Hermann says please like and share!
