Who loves paying their insurance premiums? Wow. Not only did no one raise their hand, they all left the room while mumbling about stupid questions. That’s the thing though. None of us like to pay our insurance.
Not paying it, though, can really have some horrible consequences. Life altering and life shattering consequences. I know of someone who was uninsured, ran off of the highway, and hit a parked car in the owner’s driveway. That person was found liable in a court of law to pay off the car because the owner’s car insurance would not cover it. Not having insurance = serious consequences!
In 2015, I was the passenger in a really bad rollover. Lots of mechanical failure that day. We all survived, and our insurance came through for us. Medical was covered as well as paying off the car, which was only six months old.
Earlier this year Lady Rattlesnake had damage caused in part to a storm, and now is suffering from plumbing issues stemming from replacing the siding, rotten decking around the windows, and reinstalling and trimming out the windows to be properly sealed to keep the new decking from rotting again.
This past Tuesday night, the fourth anniversary of that horrible rollover, my oldest son and I were on our way home and I hit a deer in my new (to me) Mazda, which I have had like two months or so. There were no injuries other than me being pretty sore from tensing up so badly.
Even being tense, I maintained control of the situation. My insurance adjuster called and made several compliments on my driving skill, my attention and response, and how I kept the car right side up when so many panic and worse things happen.
The deer bounced off the car sort of, then I ran over it by the neck which killed it. That really made me sad.
However, I have heard rumors from some of the people who live on that road, though, that they believe the deceased was a deer that has been quite a pest. A man who lives way down there somewhere told me he has seen it try and attack cars as they pass by, attack dogs, and just generally not being very friendly. He also said he thinks it has gone into people’s yards around there and shown aggression. I still don’t like taking a life, but if what he said is true, and that is the same crazy deer, maybe the people and their dogs can all breathe easier.
Here’s the Lesson
Everything is insured! Thank goodness!
Now, I always roll my eyes when its time to pay my car insurance, but I sure wasn’t rolling my eyes when I saw the damage to the Mazda and could breathe knowing that it was taken care of.
And for Houses?
The same happened when I saw the damage to Lady Rattlesnake’s siding after the storm. I was so glad for insurance.
Then last Friday, June 21st, I came home to find the upstairs bathroom flooded, part of the attic on that side flooded, and this huge water bubble on my ceiling in my downstairs bathroom. The water was coming out of my exhaust fan at first. That fan has not ran right since. I’ve been leaving it off. Big, huge thanks to Cody who came out the next day and capped the two pipes that he believes are the problem so we could have water to the unaffected parts of the house.
Fixing THAT is another insurance claim!Hermann says please like and share!
