How do we know it’s coming soon? Because our project manager/real estate pro on the project, Jennifer, put a coming soon For Sale sign in front of the house. Yay! And it’s true, there are very few items left on our to-do list.
For example, we finally have the right kitchen faucet. I made an understandable mistake, though: I ordered an inexpensive faucet in the right color, but when it showed up, it turned out to be one of those “bar” faucets that only does cold water! That would have made dish washing a challenge, wouldn’t it? When I looked at the faucet that showed up, it was really tiny. I am wondering now if we actually got the wrong faucet, but it’s okay. We will be able to install it in another project, I’m sure.
I ended up with not much choice, since we had to get a replacement immediately, so were limited to what was in stock in Temple. Luckily, Mandi happened to be heading there for an errand of her own, and she was able to get it for us the same day I found it. Teamwork makes it happen!
A Couple Other Items
Jennifer decided we really needed to replace the shower head in the main bathroom, since it was silver and everything else is rubbed bronze and also that we need a fireplace insert for the fireplace. Those items didn’t take too long to get here, but also still need to be installed before the house can go on the market.
But We DID Get Stuff Done
Cody and his team did get a lot of the last few items on the list taken care of this week, though. The front door got painted and the new mailbox is up. It’s classy, I think. And for a BIG beauty factor, the vanity mirrors and faucets in the bathrooms were hung. That made me and Jennifer happy. Our choices look great. The outside paint is complete, too, and we finally have sconces above the fireplace (another hard item to do, since our first ones broke).
Well, we are having a weird issue with the laundry room half bath’s toilet. Someone put something down it and it’s all clogged. The good news is that Jennifer’s dad took a look at it and thinks if the team just keep poking away at whatever the blockage is, it will eventually free up, because the actual water line’s in good shape. So, we’re keeping at it, but if we can’t do it, we’ll do something else useful with the space, like additional storage. Everyone likes that.
There’s a bedroom fan that needs some kind of cover from where the previous fan made a really big hole in the ceiling and a few outlet covers are missing or old. Jennifer’s going to make a punch list this week, to be sure all the little details get taken care of. She’s on it!
And of course, the place must become sparkling clean, so Jennifer can take pictures! That may be our “fun” activity for next weekend. As Jennifer says, we can just view it as a workout with benefits. The last photo below shows that, while it looks good, it has lots of construction dust and such to get rid of, though the team is sweeping up as they go.
We look forward to being done, and moving on to the next project, which will be fixing the electrical wiring in The Hermit Haus, before we make something explode in there (just kidding, I think). We need to get this done before anything else can happen over there.Hermann says please like and share!
