It’s always a good idea to give an update on our doings every so often. Sometimes you forget that everyone is off doing their bits for their business when you don’t see any big projects going on. So!
Cameron Office
Over in Cameron, now that the last few repairs are finished on the Washington house, we expect to actually close on it soon. That will make us all happy, including the new buyers!
And the house on Travis, where Mandi used to live, should also close pretty soon, make that really soon. I’m looking forward to meeting the new owners and seeing what their plans are. I also wish I knew the schedule for things, but my job is social media, not the buying and selling!
Lee has been working to sell his brother’s house in the Brazosport area, and met with an investor on that yesterday. I’ll let him write up something, but he did tell me that he really liked the people, since their model was a lot like ours. That makes them easy to work with, since they also want a better life for everybody.
We’ve been getting bids on moving forward, and will soon start the Nash house renovation. We are still trying to decide whether to add a bedroom and bathroom or not. We met with Cody and his business partner last week, and talked about ideas.
And, this weekend a gang of us will knock down some walls at the Hermit Haus. Doing some sweat equity! Woo!
Austin Office
Over in Austin, we are evaluating lots and lots of houses. Russell has been finding some good possibilities on his weekly “MLS Monday” searches, in which he tries different search strategies to try to find the right kind of properties for us. Last time he found really scary houses. I guess they are opportunities!
Mandi evaluates each of them by doing some preliminary comps, then Carol goes out and looks at the most likely candidates. That’s what she was doing yesterday! She made an offer, but we probably aren’t going to get it. She’s changing her strategy and looking at higher-end houses. Her goal is to get another house for our great contractor to fix up and make money on.
Carol has also been writing postcards to homeowners she’s targeted as likely prospects and has been meeting with agents to explain what we are looking for. I met a new agent recently who’s also looking on our behalf.
Anita and I have been doing home improvements over at the Bobcat Lair house. Our wine cellar is now actually a wine cellar, and not a storage room (click the link for details and a picture of me guzzling Gentleman Jack). Next week we will finish that room off. And our solar installation should be live now or very soon. We continue to go through boxes in the garage and dispose of things we don’t need anymore. We now have a place to store holiday decor that is organized.
