If you think this might be a big day for us, you’d be right. Spending the summer working in an office with no air conditioning has been a strain for all of us at the Cameron office, and we certainly could not open the Hearts, Homes, and Hands business without cool offices for our staff and clients!
So it is certain that the sight of this black truck in the driveway of The Hermit Haus this morning was a happy, happy sign. Felix and his crew were here! We’ve been using him for many, many years and are always happy with his work.
Lee and Vlassic had already shown up to supervise and let them in, so Mandi and I just wandered around taking pictures of shiny, new things. Ahhh. We are impressed with the large and shiny new outside unit as well as the new one inside the utility room. Both give me great hopes for both warmth and cooling for many years.
It was a lot of fun watching the crew working on the large system to deliver all that delicious cooling to us. It has curves and looks like it will hold a LOT of air. We’ll be able to re-use the openings from the previous system to ventilate the offices, so that will be a little savings. Kathleen will be really cool, because her vent comes right out of the unit. Although the industrial chic look isn’t my favorite, I think it will look great for our purposes here. Felix said that after we do the new electrical work, we should keep the really old wiring as a keepsake of what the building was like when it was built. I think that sounds like a good idea!
I hope you enjoy this collection of pictures of the work in progress and the new equipment. I’ll be heading back later this afternoon and take some “after” pictures to share later.
(Meanwhile, the appraisal for Washington comes next week. Let’s hope it’s good, so we can close on that one!)
