You have to hand it to Felix. He got all the air conditioning woes taken care of as fast as humanly possible. Our Villa Park B casita had a frozen compressor, which thankfully was still under warranty (nonetheless it cost us $700 for what was not covered). Rental properties aren’t for wimps. But we need to put our tenants’ needs before ours, so that one got fixed first!
Felix then trekked up to Cameron and checked out why the brand-new system wasn’t cooling. Thank goodness it wasn’t the brand-new compressor! It was, instead, the brand-new thermostat.
So, Lee took the opportunity to get a different kind of thermostat put in, which he can control via his phone. This will be handy later, when we are working in the Gillis house and renting out this space. If someone leaves the thermostat at 60 in summer or 80 in winter, we can take care of it!
While they were in Cameron, they went ahead and finished out all the other parts of the installation, so we now have the vents that will eventually be in our offices after the renovations. Right now, they look a little funny, but according to Mandi, it’s nice and cold in there today, so we’ll take it! We managed to survive a winter and a summer in that basement with no heating or cooling system, so we deserve to bask in comfort now!
We’ll now switch to other topics. It will be easier when not sweating or shivering, I think!
(The photos Lee took were a bit blurry, because he apparently took them with the lights off. At least you get the idea.)
And by the way, happy new school year to students in Cameron! Let’s hope everyone has a good year.
