This has been a wonderful day. We have sold the Travis 2 house, the one Mandi lived in before she moved to the Rattlesnake House, to a young couple, Kayla and Matthew. They are both excited to be moving to Cameron to be a part of our town’s revitalization. Just like Lee and I were back in 2011, they are looking for space and small-town friendliness, which is what we’ve found here! They are exactly the kind of folks we were hoping to find for this property, so we could not be more pleased.
Even though Kayla’s a lawyer, she couldn’t contain her excitement at purchasing her first home. It took me back to my own first home purchase, which was so scary to me at the time, and all those things to sign were darned intimidating. I could also see Jennifer, who marketed the house for us and did all the hard real estate work, smiling at their joy. It’s really a big day when you buy your first home and start envisioning all the things you will do with it. Fencing! Vegetable gardens! More bathrooms!

Jennifer makes sure all the paperwork says what it’s supposed to, and Mandi verifies that we are who we say we are. It takes a team!
We had a lot of fun after the official reading of papers and notarizing of signatures (thanks to Notary Mandi, who thankfully, was not locked out of her office). We found out we have a lot in common, and I was thrilled to find out that Matthew likes remodeling and designing plans. How convenient! Of course, Lee shared all the ways he’s been working to become a vital part of the community, which her family has been in the past. We are glad to have her back in the area doing the legal work (criminal defense, family law, immigration law, wills, and such), and it’s great that Matthew has joined her.
Welcome to Cameron, and best wishes as you set up your household, folks. We’ve provided you with good neighbors, too, so you’re set!
Hey!
If you’re interested in moving to Milam County, which is growing steadily these days, don’t forget we will be looking for caregivers and CNAs for our Hearts, Homes and Hands in-home personal assistance business starting in the next couple of weeks. I’ve seen “now hiring” signs on many small businesses, too. Bring your business or skill set, and I bet we can find something rewarding for you to do.
And if you know of any sad houses we could make happy in the greater Austin or Cameron areas, do get in touch! 512-807-8777 will get you Carol!
Hermann says please like and share!
