While you may not hear from us as often, we are still doing things with houses. We hope to get a report from Anita on what she’s doing with the Nash house now that it’s hers. She’ll have a tenant in there next week, who plans to help her out with the renovations. That’s a fun kind of tenant!
Meanwhile, Lee and Sue Ann are supervising the amazing transformation of the Pope Residence from a sad house with much delayed maintenance to a fresh shell to start anew with. Here’s what’s happened since we shared last time.
The brick on the first floor has all been revealed, and master masons are slowly but surely repairing all the issues with the 105-year old brick, so it will hold the house up for another century. Watching their careful work is amazing. We are having to find replacement bricks right now, but we are checking all possible locations where some might be hiding.
As part of our commitment to re-using perfectly good materials, we plan to use some of the cabinets we still have left over from the old Bobcat Lair kitchen as part of our “coffee bar” area in the future break room. We also still have some of that gold granite we got years ago, so we won’t have to buy counter tops. We may even have enough to use in one or both of the downstairs bathrooms.
We look forward to showing you more, as time goes on! If you are interested in some more photos, there are more on the Hearts Homes and Hands website.
