Travis 2
Current Status
This house sold on August 2, 2019. to a great couple who will be renovating it more, updating it, and creating beautiful gardens on the large lot. We are happy to sell to a new lawyer in town and to make new friends! That’s the way to sell a home!
History
This house was one of the group that the Hermits’ Rest Enterprises group bought along one of the main roads in Cameron, from the Trubees. This 2BR 1BA house built in the 1930s had been rented by a couple of families and had not been updated in many years. For a long time, it was our “before and after” picture.
The house already had a really good roof, but it also had the scariest garage on earth, which went away. When that happened, it dawned on us that there is a vacant lot on either side of this house. Future fun!
We quickly renovated the interior, eliminated a few walls to make the living/dining area much larger and “open concept,” and made the kitchen usable again (moving the water heater to the back porch made it much bigger). The bathroom also got an upgrade, though it already had some charming features. We added a modern heater/air conditioner, but left the lovely windows and nice screened-in porch.
For the next year or so, our office manager, Mandi, and her kids lived there, but now that they have the Rattlesnake house, we’ve refreshed the interior, made some additional improvements, and now have the house available for sale. It would make a nice home for a couple or two roommates, and would also be an ideal location for a small business.
