One of the ways we find deals to work on, partners for projects, and funding for our rehabs is through networking. In fact, both Lee and Russell focus a lot of their work for the company on networking. Mandi and I deal a lot with the general public in our roles, so we spend a lot of time developing our networks. It’s a vital skill in this business. If no one knows about you, how are they going to find you to work with you?
With that in mind, Lee is embarking on a networking bonanza this week. He’s heading to Plano, which is in the Dallas, Texas area, for a FortuneBuilders event, where he’s volunteering to work with the “Crush It Crew,” the people who help keep the events running smoothly and augment the paid staff who attend. He is paying his own hotel rooms and most of his own meals for the priviledge of doing this work. Why on earth would he do THAT?
It’s obvious! You get to meet lots of other Texas real estate investors and redevelopment specialists at these things, and there is a lot of time to develop new relationships that can lead to future deals, partnerships, and so on. This has worked great for our friend, Larry, who met his partners in his RV Park empire at events like this.
We’ve also found a large percentage of our private money lenders through attending the real estate events as students. As a volunteer, Lee will be able to talk to lots more people and won’t be concentrating as hard on learning. We’ve both taken most of the classes multiple times, so now it’s time to move on.
How to Find Him?
So, if you’re going to be at the event, or you’re local to the greater Dallas/Plano area and want to meet Lee in person, head over to the Plano Hilton and look for the guy in the pictures. He’s hard to miss. Want to give him a call or text him? Leave a comment and we’ll put you in touch. We don’t yet know what he’ll be doing, but he’ll be around.
He would LOVE to share a meal, chat, or answer your questions about our business model and projects. We want to learn from our peers as well as share knowledge.
