We just wanted to let you know that we finally got both of our solar panel installations up and running and generating electricity for us! The process was easy, and I’m pretty certain that we will be adding solar to our commercial properties as well, once we get finished with all those extensive renovations.
What was weird was that the solar got officially turned on at the ranch house in Cameron much sooner than the power at the Bobcat Lair house in Austin. That’s even though the Austin house installation was a couple of weeks before the Cameron one. Hmm.
Our guess is that, as usual, Austin has a lot more going on, a lot more bureaucracy, and in general, more solar installations to deal with. Now, I’m just waiting for someone to call and get me all signed up with the app to get all the information on how much power we generate. According to Lee, these blazingly sunny days this month have had us generating way more than we need. The power company in Austin does things differently from the one in Cameron, so we’ll even make some money off the extra generated there.
It will be years before the panels pay for themselves, but we are fine with this long-term investment.
